Honaker Man Convicted and Sentenced to Twelve Years in Prison for Methamphetamine Distributions and Firearms Offenses

Lebanon, VA — On July 28, 2016, Michael Allen Alexander, a 41 year-old man was convicted of four counts of Distribution of Methamphetamine, Distribution Near School Property, Robbery, Possession of Firearm by Felon, and Use of Firearm in Commission of Felony, in the Russell County Circuit Court.  Alexander was sentenced to twenty (20) years, with eight (8) years suspended, and three (3) years probation upon his release.  Alexander will immediately begin serving twelve (12) years in prison.

Commonwealth’s Attorney Brian Patton presented evidence at Thursday’s hearing that Alexander had distributed Methamphetamine on several occasions to undercover officers and government informants.   Evidence was also presented that during one of the drug transactions a firearm was possessed and used in the robbery of another individual.

Commonwealth’s Attorney Brian Patton stated, “the illegal manufacture and distribution of Methamphetamine continues to be an epidemic that plaques our community and hopefully a severe sentence like this one will serve as a deterrent to other people who are engaging or inclined to engage in these illicit activities.”

This case was investigated by the Russell County Sheriff’s Office, Town of Honaker Police Department, and the Virginia State Police.
